Quick Start: Open Customization

1. Go to https://bopster.app and click “Start creating.”
2. Create or open your playlist project.
3. On the Review/Generate page, choose “Get cards now” for fast defaults, or proceed to “Customize” to adjust every detail.

Tip: Use the live preview to validate your choices before generating a PDF. Warning: Live preview might not always fully represent the printed PDF, check before printing.

Step 1 — Choose Your Card Design

Built?in Design Sets

• Pick from three curated design sets.
• Mix and match sets for variety.
• See changes instantly in the live preview.

Best for:

• Fast, polished aesthetics with minimal effort.
• Parties and game nights where visual variety matters.

Upload Custom Designs (Front & Back)

• Format: PNG
• Aspect ratio: Square
• Upload matching front and back assets as a pair.
• Optional: Upload a background figure/shape to boost text contrast.

Branding tips:

• Keep key visuals away from the center if you plan large QR codes.
• Use high?contrast backgrounds to preserve readability.
• Export PNGs at sufficient resolution for your chosen print size (300 DPI recommended).

Step 2 — Layout & Style Customization

• Card sizes: Choose from two standard sizes (select based on paper format and cutting preference).
• Text color: Choose a solid color with strong contrast against your design.
• QR size and position:
  • Increase size for easy scanning at a distance.
  • Align left/right/top/bottom as needed.
  • Reference point: 0 mm is the exact center of the card.
• Text position:
  • Fine?tune vertical/horizontal offsets so artist/title don’t overlap artwork or QR.
• Text sizing and wrapping:
  • Set font size, maximum lines, and wrapping (characters per line) to prevent overflow.
  • For long titles/artists, allow 2–3 lines with tighter wrapping.

Pro tip:

• Check 3–5 random cards in preview for edge cases (very long names, special characters).

Step 3 — Pick the Right QR Code Type

• Bopster QR Standard

  • Encodes only the song URL.
  • Works with any QR scanner.
  • In Bopster Live, shows a play button without revealing full card info.
  • Great for simplicity and broad compatibility.

• Bopster QR Enhanced

  • Encodes song info and selected design (1–20).
  • Unlocks the full Bopster Live interface: rotatable digital card, song details, video background.
  • Best for immersive, “Hitster?like” gameplay.

• Spotify Scannable Code

  • Native to Spotify; scan in the Spotify app.
  • Not compatible with Bopster Live.
  • Only works for Spotify URLs; otherwise, automatically falls back to Bopster QR Standard.

Recommendation:

• Use Enhanced for parties and on?screen play with Bopster Live.
• Use Standard if you want a lightweight QR that opens the streaming app directly.
• Use Spotify code only if you specifically want users inside Spotify.

Step 4 — Fonts and Special Characters

• Default fonts support Latin, Cyrillic, and Greek.
• Enable specific language support for scripts like Korean or Chinese when needed.
• If some characters don’t render, switch to the matching special character font.
• Keep contrast high for readability (e.g., light text on dark backgrounds).

Step 5 — Print?Ready Settings

• Mirroring (double?sided printing)

  • On by default. Backs are reversed (e.g., front 1?2?3, back 3?2?1) so fronts/backs align after cutting.
  • Keep enabled unless your print workflow requires manual layout.

• Cut lines

  • Adds subtle trim marks to guide manual cutting.
  • Recommended if you’re not using a cutting machine.

• Paper and ink tips

• Mixed platforms: If you import from Spotify but want scans to open YouTube, use the Review page to mass?switch the target platform.

• Empty PDF

  • Your session likely has no songs. Try again in an incognito/private window—cookies or blockers may have interfered.

• QR doesn’t scan reliably

  • Increase QR size, ensure strong contrast, avoid placing it over busy textures.
  • Print at higher quality and avoid glossy finishes that reflect light.

• Text overlaps or gets cut

  • Reduce font size, increase max lines, adjust wrapping, and tweak text position.

• Special characters show as boxes

  • Enable the correct language font under Special Characters.

FAQs About Customization

• Can I mix built?in designs with custom ones?
  Yes. Combine built?in sets and your own PNG pairs in the same project.

• Can I set different QR types per song?
  Use a single QR type per generation for consistency. If you need a mix, generate separate PDFs.

• What’s the best size for custom PNGs?
  Provide square PNGs exported at 300 DPI matching your intended print size (e.g., if final card is 90×90 mm, export at that size in pixels at 300 DPI).

• Do I need mirroring if I only print fronts?
  No—mirroring affects back pages only. You can disable it if printing single?sided.
