How to Scan Bopster Cards
Via Bopster Live
A great new way of scanning Bopster cards. Scan, play without seeing what song is playing (just like the original app) and guess the song. A digital scoreboard is also there.
Go paperless by publishing your playlist and selecting it in Bopster Live. Supports YouTube and Spotify URLs and is completely free.
Try Bopster LiveVia Your Phone QR Scanner
The QR codes on Bopster cards contain the direct URL to your song, using the platform (YouTube or Spotify) you provided during creation. Simply open your phone's camera app or any QR code scanning app, point it at the card, and tap the link to play the music instantly.
Scanning Spotify URLs may require Spotify Premium when using your phones QR scanner.
How To Play Hitster
Hitster is a music timeline game where players arrange songs in chronological order. Scan QR codes with Bopster Live, place cards in your timeline, and be the first to correctly position 10 cards to win!
Hitster is a registered trademark of Koninklijke Jumbo. Bopster is a tool to create your own custom Hitster-style cards.
SCAN
The DJ scans a QR code using Bopster Live at bopster.app and a song starts playing.
PLACE
Place the Hitster card on your timeline, guessing its chronological position relative to your other cards.
FLIP
Flip the card to reveal the year. If correct, keep it. If wrong, discard it.
Fully Paperless Play
Use the integrated playlist feature on Bopster Live: publish your own playlist, go to Bopster Live and select Published Lists. There you will find your list and you can use the score board to keep track of scores. For this, you need to play the simplified version of Hitster. Learn how to play the simplified version
1 Preparation
- Decide if youre playing in teams or individually.
- Each player/team receives one music card (face up), which shows the song title, artist, and release year. This is the side without the QR code, and it starts their timeline.
- You can play without tokens for a simpler game. For a more challenging experience, each player/team can receive 2 Bopster tokens.
- Choose a player to be the DJ. Theyll use Bopster Live to scan cards and play music.

2Gameplay
SCAN
The DJ scans a Hitster cards QR code using Bopster Live on bopster.app and a song starts playing.
PLACE
The player to the DJs left places the card (face down) on their timeline, guessing whether it fits before, after, or between the cards already there.
FLIP
Flip the card to check if itsin the correct position. If yes, the player keeps it. If not, discard it.
3Winning
The first player to correctly position 10 cards on their timeline wins!
Strategic Tokens
For a more strategic game, tokens add exciting gameplay options:
On Your Turn
Spend 1 token to skip the current song and draw a new card.
On Opponent Turn
Shout Band place your token on their timeline if you think they placed a card incorrectly. If youre right, steal the card for your own timeline!
Anytime
Trade 3 tokens for a music card from the deck, placing it directly on your timeline without guessing.
Earning Tokens
Name the song and artist correctly to earn 1 token (even if you misplace the card). Maximum 5 tokens per player.
Fully Paperless Play
With Bopster Live, you can enjoy Hitster without printing any cards. Publish your playlist, access it through the Published Lists section, and use the integrated scoreboard to track points. Perfect for spontaneous game nights or when you want to play with custom playlists!
Simplified Version That Can Be Played Paperless
This is how the simplified version works. You need at least 3 people to play this version:
- You pull a card in Bopster Live, someone starts playing the song.
- Everyone can guess the song, first the person next to you, then the person next to that person until you are.
- The person most close to the year gets 1 token.
- That person can try to guess either the artist or the song. If the person does, he or she will get another token. If not guessed (correctly), other people can try to guess it for 1 token.
- Then another Hitster card can be pulled.
First to have 10 tokens wins!
